RSS Feed
Starting out on RSS
RSS stands for Real Simple Syndication.
RSS technology allows you to subscribe to a live feed of dynamic content from websites that regularly update their articles. So if you are a regular visitor to the EITI site, and you enjoy a number of other news sites or blogs as sources of information, RSS allows you to combine all the new content published from those various sites in one online destination. This usually takes the form of an RSS reader (a bit like a decoder) – a piece of software that interprets RSS feeds and displays them in an easy-to-read format.
The World Bank uses Sharp Reader.
Click the
or
link on the left-hand side of the http://www.eitransparency.org site. Drag it to your newsreader. The URL will appear in the left-hand column. You may also add the news feed manually by going to File-->Open , then copying and pasting the URL and checking off the "Subscribe to News Feed" Box. Some newsreaders may vary slightly on this method, but the idea is the same.
If you keep your newsreader open while you are online, a pop-up box will appear on the lower right-hand corner of your screen when new content appears on the website to which you have subscribed.
